Who are they?

& Why the coats?

M Letterutant Labs is a tight-knit team of developers and designers who share a passion for Games, Apps and other digital wizardry. We pride ourselves on taking on technological challenges, exploring new ideas and making beautiful stuff. Innovation is key, which is why we take two days a month to work on our own projects, roaming the ethers of creative thought and toying with the very fabric of reality.

Andrew Sargeant

Research Director

As research director of Mutant Labs, Andy is constantly perched upon the brim of the internet like a 'human' telescope, locked onto the finest new techniques and technologies, vetting them for entry into the mutant arsenal.

As-well as commanding the mutant R&D unit, Andy also develops super smooth applications for mobile platforms, like the IPhone, ever heard of it? When he isn't teaching the internet who's boss, Andy is either skimming the wet meadows on his surf board or helping an old woman cross the road.

Alex Ryley

Managing Director

Not much is known about Alex's past, apart from the fact he was known as 'la mangouste filature' in certain parts of southern France. What we do know however, is that Alex is the guy who gets things done, and keeps all the mutants upright on their tentacles.

As the Managing Director of Mutant Labs, he is the man on the front line, the man in the street, and the man in your office (don't call security). If you want to work with us, talk to Alex.

Ben Reynhart

Creative Director

After the accident, Ben's medical records indicate a heightened sense of composition and 'user empathy', making him perfect for the role of Mutant Labs' Creative Director. Ben's unique talents include flawless user experience design and producing stunning websites to tight specifications.

What Ben lacks in grace he makes up for in awesome ideas. Sure he spills a lot of liquids, but he's never afraid to use his brain. Ben uses his vast knowledge of web design to seduce women. It doesn't work.

Rich Searle

Technical Director

Police records indicate that Richard was first discovered fully formed inside a meteor by a cornish goat farmer. As Technical Director, Richard David Searle is the 'go to guy' of Mutant Labs for anything behind the screen, from hardcore PHP development to fixing your mothers broken 'conputerbox', this guy does it all.

Richard had a tough time in school, being the only 6 year old with a beard that spoke in binary.

Chris Mayoh

Art Director

With jeans tight enough to induce a hernia, and a head of hair thick enough to give most people heatstroke, Chris uses the extra temperature to bake up fresh batches of eye melting game visuals and motion graphics.

When he isn't busy making his eyes square, Chris can be found roaming the streets of Plymouth impersonating a Velociraptor or crafting rhythms on his electric drumkit.

what we're about

How we roll...

Key Point 1

We Love Games

At the risk of turning our eyes square, we spent our formative years immersed in the exciting and addictive world of video games. Thankfully, we didn't impair our vision, but we did learn a fair amount about what makes games tick. We can produce titles for any specification, and we enjoy doing it too.

Key Point 1

Dynamite Ideas

After a series of (un)fortunate radioactive smelting accidents, the five mutant brains have fused into one powerfull hive mind, capable of generating inspiring ideas, advanced problem solving stategies, and 1.21 gigawatts of power in one sitting.

Key Point 1

We're Perfectionists

We all take pride in what we do, and because of this, sub-par work never escapes the lab. All of our projects are extensively tested and tweaked before being buffed, polished and packaged ready for transit into the outside world.

Our story in pictures

Where It Started

Mutant Labs was formed in 2009 by five like-minded individuals who met on the Digital Art & Technology degree at the University of Plymouth, and were drawn together by their enthusiasm for innovative digital projects. Fueled by the success and recognition of their original portfolio site, the mutants went from strength to strength and forged a strong client base and

creative network, not only in the local area, but internationally. Mutant Labs has also been active in the local community, teaching at the university, sitting on the board of 'Designed in Devon' and spreading knowledge in youth workshops. We also helped to organise and brand Plymouths 1st games design conference, Extended Play, which has since

spawned a community of enthusiastic gamers who meet up once a month.

The next chapter...

We are not entirely sure what exciting adventures await the Mutants. All we know for now is we love what we do.
